I was watching a programme on tv n d preacher talked on Colossians 2:12-15.. confirming Jesus as a conqueror of Hell n thus we are conquerors.. then he said something like.. the devil is a defeated fellow..when we fight with the devil we fight with a defeated man.. N GUESS WHAT - NEPA TOOK D LIGHT!.. it's just a clear message this guy, the devil is actually afraid n wants to by all means prevent every truth from being told-THE devil IS DEFEATED!.. it's not just a statement it's a fact! when we go true trials know this TRUTH -THE devil IS DEFEATED!he roars LIKE a LION.. 1pet5:8..The real Lion of Judah is in HOSEA 5:14 who TEARS n not ROAR LIKE a LION..u can write this on ur desk or paste on ur car or somewhere visible n conspicuous -THE DEVIL IS DEFEATED!.. # GODlovesUnI # typedByGOD 'sGrace #iSpeeakLife !..

LIBRARY IN FOCUS: CHALLENGES

After a decade of growth in budgets and services, librarians now expect a sustained period of cuts. Library budgets have risen over the past ten years – although not as much as overall university income and expenditure – as both the volume and range of library services have expanded. Librarians from across the higher education (HE) sector now expect budget cuts over the next three years. The scale of the cuts means that libraries must rethink the kinds and levels of service they provide in support of their universities’ missions. The scope for further simple efficiency savings is small, and so librarians are having to think more strategically about: • the balance of expenditure on information resources on the one hand, and staffing on the other. The balance varies significantly across the sector, and there is a close relationship between staffing and service levels • whether and if so how to sustain existing kinds and levels of services while at the same time developing new services to meet new needs. Many libraries across the sector are considering cuts in services; but they need to ensure that staff focus more on user-facing functions, and to develop a more detailed understanding of the costs of their activities • the squeeze on book budgets, and how to meet the student demand for core texts. E-books could help ease this problem, but publishers’ policies on pricing and accessibility are inhibiting take-up, and • the costs and sustainability of current levels of journal provision. Cancelling large numbers of titles or a whole big deal will give rise to considerable opposition. But librarians are looking at various options to reduce the costs of their current portfolios. These are major problems of librarians. Looking at the challenges faced by librarians it can be said that cost is a major challenge among others. Of course there are solutions to problems but this factor has made itself partially unsolvable. Another major contributing factor is that of the library users who makes job very difficult for library personnel, attendants and managers by : • Borrowing books and not returning it, which will make the library purchase another (cost) • Rearranging books on the shelves • Disregarding library instructions (e.g. don’t eat in the library so that particles of what you eat will not fall on the book and therefore attract rodents or insects which will destroy the book) etc. Of course some library users gave some excuse like, library attendants don’t treat them well etc. In fact, all these problems and accusations are not wholistic, what happens in the north might be different from that of the south. But, to are large extent the problems faced by librarians and other personnel is worth noting. Suggestions and comments are welcome.
